Osmanthus trees’ varieties: There are four kinds of osmanthus: golden osmanthus, silver osmanthus, orange osmanthus and four-season osmanthus. Golden osmanthus is the best because its strong, sweet and pure aroma . Big and thick petals of golden osmanthus have strong, fresh and sweet flower aroma while small petals have sweet and ripe fruit aroma. Then followed by silver osmanthus. Its aroma is quietly elegant, pure but not strong. The aroma of the left two kinds are weak and miscellaneous, not suitable for making osmanthus concrete.
Trees’ age: Osmanthus trees if grows in a natural old varieties, its aroma will be more strong with years from 25 to 50. We find that osmanthus aroma is strong,sweet and pure in some region where have a long picking history, such as Anhui province, Guizhou province and Guilin area. However,the aroma of some grafting and fast-growing osmanthus trees is relatively weak and mixed. Sometimes they are affected by pesticide and chemical fertilizer.

Weather conditions: Regional climate and weather also influence osmanthus aroma. Enough rain and sun, cool climate, osmanthus trees not only have high yield, but also have strong and good aroma. When blossoming, if the weather is dry and hot, the osmanthus flowers are not easy to fall, then they are easy to shrunken in the tree, the aroma is obviously light due to pick untimely.
